WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that would allow users to track their contacts in real time.

WhatsApp launched the beta for iOS and Android which had several new and interesting features including the Live Location tracking.

However, a Twitter user WABetaInfo has pointed out that the Live Location feature can display the real-time location to those users who use Whatsapp chat group.

The revelation of the feature would have raised concerns with regards to privacy, but it is not exactly clear where user location will be made visible.

To address these concerns, the Live Location feature will be disabled until the user manually opts in through the app’s settings menu.

Those users who don’t want to have their location constantly on display (which will presumably be the majority of users), but find the feature useful in certain scenarios will have the option to enable the feature for a limited window of one, two or five minutes.

This is not the only interesting feature that has been spotted in the app’s Android beta. There are also reports that users could be able to edit the messages sent, as well as recall messages they wish were not sent at all.

However, user will only be able to edit or recall messages that have not been read, so users still have to live with those mid-conversation regrets until WhatsApp develops a memory-wiping feature.

Although these features have been spotted in the beta version, it is not clear when they will be rolled out or whether they will be as exactly in the beta version.
