WhatsApp to introduce avatars for video calls

The meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is expanding its performance with the avatars by launching avatars for video calls.

The app still has a lot of ground to cover when it comes to emojis, stickers and avatar games but the step is progress nonetheless. A similar feature has been included in Samsun and Apple phones for quite some time now, while Instagram and Snapchat already have a similar feature.

According to WABetaInfo, the platform is planning to launch custom avatars for video calls, similar to Memojis and Bitmojis. The feature will enable users to use their avatar instead of their real video in a video call. The feature has been in development since March.

A screenshot shared by WABetainfo shows the button which will be used to switch from video to avatar, but it does not show any glimpse of the avatars themselves.

The exact date for the launch of the feature has not been announced yet. It adds to the pile of new features Whatsapp has already included this year. The platform has included the ability to create orders within a chat thread on WhatsApp Desktop.

Additionally, its Desktop beta may soon introduce a blur tool in the internal image editor that was seen this year on the Android and iOS beta versions.
