Whatsapp services briefly disrupted across Pakistan

Customers are still unsure of the reason for the disruption in services. The service has now been restored completely.

Services were also disrupted in USA, Japan and Columbia while customers in India and Malaysia were also affected.

Whatsapp which uses the internet to shares messages, pictures and videos has a subscription of 1 billion people around the world and is owned by Facebook. It is one of the few services which provide end-to-end encryption services. It has also announced plans to launch a video service to compete with other service providers such as Skype and Facetime.

In January 2016, a similar incident happened when services were suspended briefly in a range of countries from the United States to India. The outage was recovered in less than an hour. It was reported that Facebook attempted to integrate Whatsapp with other networks and provide the ability to share information widely.
