In a media statement, Lodhi said that the Kashmir issue has been highlighted on international level.
She said that the UN Secretary General has condemned the ongoing human rights violations by Indian forces in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Ambassador Lodhi said that India should negotiate with Pakistan on the issue in view of the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
Pakistan’s representative said that Ban Ki-Moon has urged for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute and offered himself to play a role in resolving the dispute.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had written a letter on 5th August calling for efforts to end the ongoing violation of the basic human rights of the Kashmiri people and implement UN resolutions which provide an outline for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had condemned the prevailing violence in Indian held Kashmir and urged the two countries to settle Kashmir and other issues through talks.
“I appreciated the continued commitment of Pakistan to the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute for the sake of regional peace and security, as you reaffirmed in your letter,” the UN Secretary General had stated in the letter.
