WASHINGTON: Donald Trump’s triumph in the US presidential elections has deflected public wrath on his lookalike, prompting him to hire his own security guards.
John Di Domenico, 53 claims he has been forced to hire ‘Secret Service’-type bodyguards due to a backlash following the election.
The Daily Mail reported that Domenico had been imitating Trump for 12 years after mastering his voice and characteristics when The Apprentice first aired on TV in 2004.
Di Domenico has been commanding $10,000 for personal appearances and is making more than $40,000 a month. However, the impersonator from Pennsylvania has also had to hire security due to the anger surrounding the new leader.
Di Domenico now has two bodyguards follow him around when he does his Trump act following fears for his safety.
He told the New York Post: ‘It was really off the charts on the run-up but now that he’s elected it’s like, OK, he’s not going anywhere.
‘There was this frenzy to book me, especially these last few months. A lot people thought he wasn’t going to become President.’
However, upcoming jobs include a wedding anniversary party in London and a Trump inauguration celebration.
