Long queues were witnessed in cinemas for tickets of the films throughout the year.
Jalaibee:
ARY Films & Redrum Films released Jalaibee on 20th March, 2015. The film tells the story of two friends who become indebted to a local mafia and have to resort to drastic measures to clear their debt. The film stars Danish Taimoor, Ali Safina, Waqar Ali Khan, Uzair Jaswal, Sajid Hasan, Adnan Jafar, Sabeeka Imam and Zhalay Sarhadi.
The film earned record Rs. 100 million at the box office.
3 Bahadur:
ARY Films had the priviledge to produce Pakistan’s first ever animated feature film which went on to become a super hit. Directed by Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, the flick tells the story of 3 children who are gifted with superpowers to fight crime, injustice and oppression led by an evil tyrant.
Within two-weeks of its release 3 Bahadur had already earned over millions of rupees. This made 3 Bahadur the highest grossing animated movie in Pakistan beating Rio 2’s previously held box-office record.
Wrong No:
Romance-comedy flick ‘Wrong No.’ was released across Pakistan on Eid-ul-Fitr and had the audience in tears with its hilarious script and dialogues.
Starring Danish Taimoor, Sohai Ali Abro, Janita Asma, Danish Nawaz and Nadeem Jafri, the film went on to become a super hit surpassing Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan at the box office.
Shah:
Released on Independence Day this year Shah is the real life story of Syed Hussain Shah who clinched the bronze medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics.
The film went on to earn Rs. 640 million at the box office and invoked a new spirit into the Pakistani film industry.
Jawani Phir Nahi Ani:
Released on Eid-ul-Azha this year, The film met with positive response and rave reviews. Directed by Nadeem Baig, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani not only secured appreciation from within the border but outside as well.
Jawani Phir Nahi Ani is an adventure-comedy film which revolves around four friends, who venture to Bangkok in an attempt to live it up, albeit without their wives.
The cast of the film includes Humayun Saeed, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmad Butt, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ismail Tara, Javed Sheikh, Sarwat Gilani, Mehwish Hayat, Uzma Khan, Ayesha Khan and Bushra Ansari.
The film broke Pakistan’s all time box office record for any film said previously by Syed Noor’s Chooriyan making over Rs. 450 million at the box office.
