Three SPs of Rao Anwar’s team removed from Malir

KARACHI: Three Superintendents of Police (SPs) of former Senior SP (SSP) Rao Anwar’s team have been removed from Malir district on Monday.

The police officers include Najeebullah, Chaudhry Saif and Iftikhar Lodhi. They were part of the Rao’s team.

Massive tranfers/ removals of police officers took place in Malir following spree of protests against alleged extrajudicial killing of young Waziristan native, Naqeebullah Mehsud, at the hands of the ex-SSP Malir.

Earlier, 13 police officers were transferred from Malir.

According to another notification issued by Additional IG Sindh Police Office, 13 police officers including two DSPs and 11 SHOs have been transferred from Malir district.

The transfers/ postings have been made on recommendation of DIG East Zone Sultan Khawaja, a member of the team probing the alleged extra-judicial killing of the 27-year-old.

Rao Anwar was considered to be the most powerful police officer in Karachi who had 15 police stations under his command.

He is currently on the run in a bid to evade interrogation into the murder case. He claimed that the committee held bias against him.
