With every passing day, the noose seems to be tightening on members of Chotu gang and other criminals taking refuge in Katcha area.
Police and paramilitary personnel today killed three more bandits in the area, officials said, taking the overall count to five. Scores of other miscreants hiding in the vicinity were also wounded.
The cops fired mortar shells that resulted in destruction of several dens and posts built by criminals.
Security forces are currently advancing on Katcha Jamal area through boats.

These miscreants having nexus with banned outfits have long been committing robberies and kidnappings and would go into hiding in the difficult-to-access area.
