The love that I got from India is the reason why I chose this country: Adnan Sami

Seems like Adnan Sami Khan does not really care about the sentiments of Pakistanis. The Bollywood singer was recently allowed to stay in India ‘indefinitely’ when his Pakistani passport had expired. Adnan commented on the situation and stated that he had come to learn that Pakistanis were protesting against him, yet he was happy at the decision he had made to stay in India.

“I’m very thankful to the Indian government for considering my plea. But I’m waiting for the day the government grants me citizenship of this country. Right now I’m from no man’s land because my Pakistani citizenship has been renounced now,” said Adnan Sami.

“I have heard that people in Pakistan are not very happy with this news and are burning my effigies. But I’m happy that I have finally found my home,” Adnan said.

The love, adulation and warmth that I got from India is

the reason why I chose this country. People all over the world know me as an Indian artist. I could have chosen any other country and wouldn’t have had to go through problems claiming my citizenship. But it is India where my heart is and has always been,” he added.

Adnan Sami’s Pakistani passport expired on May 26th this year, since it was issued on May 27 2010. The Pakistani government did not renew his passport hence the once-burly singer requested the Indian to legalize his stay in India. The Indian government assented to his plea, on humanitarian grounds.

Adnan Sami Khan was married to Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar and also has a son with her named Azaan Sami Khan. Sami is currently married and recently also sang a song for Salman Khan’s recent Bajrangi Bhaijaan movie, titled Bhar De Jholi (a rendition of the original version by Sabri Brothers).
