Jim Boysen had the first skull-scalp transplant from a human donor.
Jesse Selber, the doctor who carried out the transplant surgery, said that it was a new lease on life for the patient.
Boysen is expected to be discharged from the hospital within a few days.
Organ-procurement organization, LifeGift, had to wait 18 months to find the right donor, whose identity has not been revealed.
