Six target killers including policeman nabbed: CTD DIG

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdullah Sheikh on Monday revealed that six target killers including a policeman were arrested in Karachi, ARY News reported.

“Names of three members of the target killing gang are included in the red book. The captured head constable was posted at Garden Headquarters (South),” Abdullah Sheikh said while addressing a press conference. Additional DIG Qamaruz Zaman and the in-charge CTD were also present on this occasion.

He said the suspects were involved in more than 50 target killings and also in attack on Maulana Aurangzeb. They shot dead a pushcart vender at Yousuf Plaza, he added.

The CTD DIG said the incidents of target killing had reduced in the metropolis following arrest of the culprits.

“A joint investigation team has been formed over involvement of the six suspects in target killing incidents,” he said.

Abdullah Sheikh said development had been made in Mufti Taqi Usmani attack case as well and soon the media would be relayed on this.

On March 30, one man was killed as unidentified assailants carried out a targeted attack in Karachi’s Defence Phase-VII area on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Taley Zar, a driver by the occupation of one named Shabbir Hussain, the police had said.

According to a senior official of Darakhshan Police Station, Zar had arrived outside the college to pick up Hussain’s daughter. As soon as he had pulled over, the killers, already waiting for him, opened fire.
