Raza Rabbani’s Political Career

During his years in University of Karachi, Raza was politically very active. In 1981, he officially started his political career by joining PPP. He practiced law simultaneously too. During the time Zia-ul-Haq was in power, Raza Rabbani was imprisoned.

He was chosen to the Parliament in Pakistani general races, 1988 and filled in as a counselor to boss clergyman of Sindh from 1988 to 1990. He was chosen to the Senate of Pakistan without precedent for 1993 where he served until 1999. In 1996, he turned into the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. In 1997, he was selected as the agent secretary general of PPP by Benazir Bhutto. He remained Leader of the Opposition in the Senate from 2005 to 2008.

After PPP won the race in 2008, he declined to wind up noticeably an individual from the government bureau of Yousaf Raza Gillani because of issues of taking vow from that point leader of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf. He was re-chosen to the Senate in 2006. He remained Leader of the House in the Senate from 2008 to 2009.

After the PPP lost the 2013 general race, he was influenced extra secretary to general of PPP by Zardari.  Rabbani has been granted Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his parliamentary administrations. He has authored a few books too; A biography of Pakistani federalism : unity in diversity.
