Mehbooba Mufti full name Mehbooba Mufti Sayeed is the president of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also the first female chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba was born on May 22, 1959 in Bijbehara being born in a strong politician family his father had served as India Home Minister and was also the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
After receiving her early education, she went to university of Kashmir where she earned her law degree. She first came into the limelight when her sister “Rubaiya” was abducted by a terrorist. Mehbooba Mufti first won her assembly elections in 1996 on Congress Ticket.
She has been elected for the provincial assembly, after her father death in 2016 she got elected as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on 4th April 2016.
