A spokesperson of NDMA has said that swarms of locusts have spread to 52 districts of the country including 31 in Balochistan, 10 districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six in Sindh and five districts in Punjab.
Sindh government has demanded the federal authorities to provide more resources to the province in order to tackle locusts (the crop-eating insects) attack
However, the organizers facing a challenging situation posed by the landing of large swarms of locusts at the venue of the meeting of the PPP chairman.
Earlier in this month, locusts, a specie of grasshoppers, reportedly eat up crops, grass and shrubs in some villages of Nagarparkar and Islamkot talukas of Thar region.
Swarms of locusts have spread to several districts of Sindh including Nawabshah, Naushehro Feroz, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Jamshoro after initially descending in Khairpur from Balochistan, sparking fears of large-scale crop devastation in barrage areas of the province.
