LAHORE: Pakistan's literary scene is seeing a spirited revival, with packed festivals attracting tens of thousands in a rock concert-like atmosphere that defies security threats in a growing cultural renaissance.

If you are a woman with a brain in either India or Pakistan, then a thousand things will be said about you, well-known Indian TV journalist Barkha Dutt told a large audience during the launch of her book This Unquiet Land: Stories from India's Fault Lines on the second day of the 7th Karachi Literature Festival (KLF).

The Seventh instalment of the Karachi Literature Festival kicked off on February 5. Missing were Indian stars Anupam Kher and Nandita Das, the latter pulling out because of illness which prevented her from travelling to Karachi.
