Poliomyelitis also known as polio is the infectious disease cause by the polio virus.  In about 0.5% cases there is muscle weakness resulting inability to move. Anti-Polio drives are carried out around the world by the government of the country with the help of united nations. Inability can occur for few hours or few days the weakness mostly often involve the legs but may less commonly involve the muscles of the head and neck.

Many but now mostly people fully recover in those with muscle weakness of 2% to 5% of children and 15% to 30% is adult die another 25% people have minor symptoms such as fever and a sour throat up to 5% of headache next fitness and pains in the arms and legs these people are back to normal within two to three weeks.

Anti-Polio drive conducted by the governments are officially supported by the United Nations. United Nations supported 125 countries fight against polio virus as their efforts and hard work helped to eliminate the virus completely up to 97% countries are now free from polio virus.
