The past few days had me questioning that why hasn’t the Captain made any public announcement, if we may call it, regarding this matter. I mean a tweet wasn’t enough for us!
Once again, the Captain won all the hearts back by saying that he did not want to make a big deal out of this wedding, but the media had clearly seen it from a different perspective. He further stated, that he did not want to bring this matter up due to the Peshawar attack, which happened on the 16th of December. His statements were backed up by the simple wedding ceremony and the way he conducted his Walima was a grand gesture in itself.
He also stated, that living in a country where millions of people are deprived of basic necessities like food, we need to take a step back from extravagance at weddings and make an effort to help our people. He finally sent out a message that instead of sending gifts every well wisher should donate to Shaukat Khanum Peshawar and help make a change in society.
I think this in itself was enough to answer the questions that were popping in the minds of many, including his supporters. I congratulate the couple, and hope that soon we will resume to our daily routines.
