Opposition protests as Sushma briefs Indian parliament on Pak visit

While she was making a statement describing her recent visit to Pakista, lawmakers from the opposition benches continued to raise slogans against the BJP-led government.

The minister said she had raised the issue of Mumbai terror attacks probe and has asked Pakistan to expedite the trial process.

She said, “India, Pakistan to engage in a “comprehensive” dialogue on all issues including peace, security, Jammu & Kashmir”.

The protest was initiated by the Aam Aadmi Party members over over various issues including “vendetta politics”.

Even after the statement was over, opposition members continue to raise slogans, leading the deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha to adjourn the house.

On December 9, India and Pakistan had announced in Islamabad that they have decided to engage in a “comprehensive” dialogue that will include peace and security, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Swaraj met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia summit. After their talks, the two sides came out with a joint statement on resumption of talks, capping a series of positive developments since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Sharif in Paris.
