KARACHI: The Karachi registry of Supreme Court of Pakistan expressed its anger on authorities for a delay of five years in a narcotics case, ARY News reported.
A person named as Fazl was accused of transporting 256 kilogrammes of hashish, which according to authorities was recovered from his truck.
On Friday, the court heard the arguments of the defence lawyer and the version of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) officials.
The defence lawyer maintained that his client was in jail since 2014, however, not even a single witness was presented before the court for five years.

ANF officials said the witnesses could not be presented due to the transfer of investigation officer. On this, Justice Gulzar Ahmed took a strong exception and said such statements couldn’t absolve anyone of the delay caused in the case.
The judge directed the Director-General (DG) Anti-Narcotics Force to submit his report on the matter within two weeks.
The court also asked the registrar of Sindh High Court to furnish a report as to why the judge’s appointment couldn’t be made in the narcotics court.
Justice Gulzar said that the court would take up the matter again when the DG ANF submits his report. The hearing was later adjourned.
