ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday ordered removal of Ayyan Ali’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported.
A three-member bench of the apex court heard Interior Ministry’s petition challenging Sindh High Court’s (SHC) decision of removing Ayyan Ali’s name from the ECL.
In the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar expressed his anger and said that Ayyan Ali’s name was included in the list for the third time.
Additional Attorney General, in his arguments, stated that the widow of the case’s investigation officer Saima Chaudhry has also filed a petition to this respect.
The apex judge replied that the court should be informed as to how many murderer’s names have been included in the Exit Control List under Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The judge remarked that the case against the model was registered in 2015 and the investigation is still incomplete.
It should be noted that a two-member bench of the SHC had ordered removal of Ayyan Ali’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
However, her moment of euphoria lasted less than an hour when the same court accepted the federal government’s plea for review in the case.
Ayyan Ali was arrested on March 14, 2015 on charges of money laundering after customs officials had recovered over 500,000 US dollars from her luggage at Islamabad airport before she could reportedly board a flight to Dubai.
Since her arrest, Ayyan’s name being repeatedly taken on and off from the Exit Control List.
