ISLAMABAD: Resuming hearing of SSP Asmatullah Junejo assault case, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge on Friday noted that the police have failed to submit details of estate belonging to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Chief Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Tahir-ul-Qadri in three cities.
In its fresh orders, Judge Shahrukh Arjumand directed Inspector General (IG) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad to garner the property details of two leaders from the district collector officer Lahore and Mianwali respectively till the next hearing.
The judge ruled that the ‘absconder status’ for Khan and Qadri would remain intact over their perpetual absence during the proceedings.
Assault case against ‘cousins in protest’
It merits to mention here that Khan, Qadri and several others were booked over their alleged involvement in an attack on then-Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) of Islamabad (Operations) Asmatullah Junejo during the 2014 sit-in in the capital.
Earlier, the police informed the ATC that the arrest warrants issued against Khan and Qadri could not be executed as they were not found at listed residences.
The police had submitted a report before the ATC saying that a police party went to the residence of Khan in Bani Gala, where a security guard informed them that Khan was not at home and he did not know his whereabouts.
The court officials had revealed that a similar report was also submitted in connection with the execution of Qadri’s arrest warrants.
