NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Sridevi has been posthumously bestowed the National Film Award for ‘Best Actress’ category on Monday for her impeccable portrayal as a mother in the family genre movie Mom.
The legendary actress played a mother who takes revenge for the injustice that happens to her step-daughter.
Pakistani actress Sajal Ali performed the role of the step-daughter while Adnan Siddique played the role of Sridevi’s husband in the movie directed by Ravi Udyawar.
The English Vinglish star passed away in February because of accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel’s bathtub leaving thousands of fans heartbroken.
The actor in an interview before her sad demise said that she was proud of being a part of a film like Mom, and the positive reviews it had received.
“People reacted very well and I felt good about it,” she had said.
Sridevi starrer ‘Mom’ had also won the National Film Award for Best Background Score. A.R. Rahman composed the music and background score for the film.
