Pixar’s film Cars released in 2006 became a hit because we believed that even cars had feeling. The film was set in world populated entirely by anthropomorphic cars and other vehicles.
Now robotic toy maker Sphero has unveiled the Ultimate Lighting McQueen animatronic toy car based the character from the franchise voiced by Owen Wilson.
Ultimate Lightning McQueen is the top of the line racer packed with personality. The animated eyes, animatronic mouth and emotive suspension allows to experience Lightning like never before.
The smartphone-enabled car can also be control through iPhone and Android.
The idea of a remote-controlled car from Cars might not seem novel, but it seems like Sphero has put a lot of work into bringing the character to life just in time for DisneyPixar’s “Cars 3” in theaters on June 16.
It has a built in LCD screen that allows Lightning’s eyes to be fully expressive. Also, tap Lightning on the hood, trunk, sides, or top and watch him move.
“From the beginning, we wanted to make Ultimate Lightning McQueen feel as real as he does in the film,” said Paul Berberian, CEO of Sphero.
“In order to create a scaled down version of his big personality, we worked closely with the team at Pixar to ensure we were getting his nuances just right – such as leaning into turns and expressive facial and body movements.”
Ultimate Lightning McQueen is the top-end racing machine allowing users to drive and drift, play games, and train for the next big race with this app-enabled racing star.
A seven-time Piston Cup Champion, Ultimate Lightning McQueen was born to race. Just connect to the app and see Lightning respond to user commands with his personality on display, thanks to emotive actions and speech.
When not driving and drifting with Lightning, users can sharpen pit crew skills in Pit Stop Panic, create scripts for Lightning to perform in his next spot in the Acting Studio.
Or users can kick back and relax by watching Disney Pixar’s Cars with Lightning while he reacts to the movie.
