Spaceship battler Dreadnought launches on PS4

The spaceship combat flight simulator Dreadnought developed by Yager Development and published by Grey Box with Six Foot is now available on PlayStation 4.

The first previews were shown in 2014 and Dreadnought entered closed beta on 29 April 2016, until it was at the PlayStation Experience on 3 December 2016, and finally is officially available on PS4.

Mike Donatelli, Creative Director at Six Foot, made the announcement on the official PlayStation Blog and gave details on how the development studio is growing the sci-fi shooter in the year ahead. Dreadnought puts players in command of massive capital ships for tactical, team-based warfare in space and across the skies of different planets.

As a mercenary captain, the motivations are simple: to reap the rewards of battle and build your reputation – and to be fearless doing it. Armed with earth-shaking weapons and the support of your teammates, players must claim victory by outmaneuvering, outshooting and outclassing the opposing team.

Players can design the ship that reflects their playstyle, customise every suspect of the the vessel, from weapons and modules to coatings and decals. Players can unlock over 50 ships across five different classes, and find one that offers heavy assault, sniper, support or scouting capabilities.

Donatelli said the game is the culmination of years of work across two continents by teams that live and breathe colossal capital ships. “From the intense battles of Team Deathmatch to the punishing, unrelenting waves of ships in Havoc mode, Dreadnought is a one-of-a-kind capital spaceship action shooter,” he said.

He thanked the community players on PS4 for being vocal on likes and dislikes, giving crucial information as they improve combat balance, game modes and the structure of progression and perks. He hoped that the the passion in players stays alive and that the feedback keeps rolling as it plays an essential role in continuing to make Dreadnought even better.

The developers will make several improvements over the next year. For example, custom games, which will give more control over how to set up matches, is among their highest priorities. There are also new ships and maps on the horizon, and they are looking into new game modes that bring major changes.
