Shiv Sena workers have always made life difficult for any Pakistani artists that have tried to work in India. Their tiff with Pakistani ghazal maestro Ustad Ghulam Ali has been making headlines ever since last year, when his concerts in Mumbai and Pune were cancelled. Now, it seems that Shiv Sena has turned its guns on Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Enraged Shiv Sena activists took to the streets and tore off a Rahat Fateh Ali Khan banner near the Shahibaug under-bridge. Also, another banner of the singer was defaced with black paint by Shiv Sena loyalists RTO circle, according to a Shiv Sena leader.

According to a Shiv Sena leader Jitu Solanki, the main reason for their protest was that Pakistani artists were earning money in India while Pakistan was carrying out terrorist activities in India.

“One one side, Pakistan sponsored terrorists are taking lives of innocent Indians, while on the other hand, these Pakistani singers are coming here to make money,” he said. “Pakistani singers are making money when Indian soldiers and citizens are getting killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.”

The Shiv Sena leader also warned that they would protest when Rahat Fateh Ali Khan came to the city for his concert.

“We will also stage protests against Khan when he lands in the city for the concert. Today’s protests were just a warning, as we may go to extremes to stop him from performing in the city,” he said.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is scheduled to perform in Ahmedabad on April 30.
