KARACHI: Dejected by continuing torture from her husband, a woman belonging to Rohri approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) complaining of being subjected to assault from her husband, ARY News reported on Monday.
According to the petition, the woman claimed that her husband unlawfully divorced her and ‘snatched’ her daughter. The complainant also accused the husband of subjecting her to severe torture.
Justice Zafar Shah of the Sukkur bench at the SHC heard the plea.

Responding to the petition, the court issued a notice to senior superintendent of police Sukkur, station house officer Rohri, and others. The court summoned the respondents on April 12.
The court also ordered to free the woman’s one-year-old daughter from husband’s possession and give her custody to the mother.
In a
similar incident of a woman tortured by her husband, a magisterial court in Lahore today (April 9) dismissed bail applications of two men who were arrested for allegedly torturing one of the suspects’ wife over her refusal to dance for their entertainment.Judicial Magistrate Shahid Zia rejected the applications of Faisal and Rashid seeking their release on bail.
The applicants contended before the court through their lawyer that the case they were facing was a bailable offence and pleaded to the judicial officer to grant them bail.
Last month, the incident of domestic abuse came to the fore as a video showing the victim went viral on social media. Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi and Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had taken notice of the incident and ordered immediate action against the culprits.
