PARIS: The women’s final of the 2014 French Open will be contested between Russia’s Maria Sharapova and Canada’s Simona Halep after the two players won their semi-finals on Thursday, ARY News reports.
In the first women’s semi final of the Roland Garros, Maria Sharapova played against Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard. The won the first set 6-4 but the Russian bounced back in the match won the remaining two sets 7-5 and 6-2.
The second women’s semi final, Simona Halep trounced Germany’s Andrea Petkovic in straight sets to reach the final. Halep won the match 6-2 and 7-5.
