Road mishaps owing to foggy weather conditions in Punjab leave scores injured

LAHORE: Road accidents owing to low visibility range caused by prevailing foggy weather conditions in most parts of Punjab on Friday morning left a score of people injured.

At least seven people were injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road and overturned due to low visibility near Dera Ghazi Khan.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical attention. However, no further details could be gathered pertaining to identities of injured passengers and their condition.

The authorities have closed numerous sections of the Motorway for all kind of vehicular traffic due to poor visibility caused by dense fog enveloping most plain areas of the province.

The intersections of Motorway restricted for commuters and motorists include M2 from Babu Sabu to Kot Momin, M3 from Rawalpindi to Faisalabad and M4 from Gojra to Faisalabad, besides the motorway from Multan to Khanewal.

The Motorway Police in an advisory told commuters and vehicle drivers to drive vehicles cautiously on the road and turn on fog lights while driving.

On Thursday, at least one person was killed and several others were injured in different traffic accidents owing to poor visibility caused by dense fog enveloped various parts of Punjab.

In a traffic mishap, as many as 10 vehicles crashed into each other on Kasur Road in Lahore, leaving scores of persons injured.
