According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces fighter jets pounded at militants positions in remote Tirah Valley in Khyber tribal district killing at least 34 terrorists including a key commander of a banned outfit.
Several hideouts of the militants were also destroyed in air strikes, security sources said.
In a wake to clear the semi-autonomous tribal areas that border Afghanistan from militnats, Pakistan Army has launched operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ in July 2014 in the North Waziristan agency.
The bold initiative was taken after a bloody raid on Karachi Airport ended faltering peace talks between the government and militants.
North Waziristan is a major base for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which began its campaign against the state in 2007 and also provides shelter to a number of foreign militant groups that includes Uzbeks and Uighurs.
According to the stats revealed by Pakistan Army more than a thousand militants have been killed during the operation.
