PESHAWAR: The security forces claimed to have killed two terror suspects and arrested two others in an overnight operation in a Peshawar neighborhood, ARY News reported.
Acting on a tip-off regarding presence of suspected terrorists in the Chamkani area of the city, personnel of Pakistan army and Peshawar police carried out a joint operation that spanned over seven hours , busting a group of terrorists who were plotting to carry out terror attacks, said the CCPO Peshawar.
The operation comes a day after three explosions targeted civilians and security forces in Quetta and Parachanar, leaving 34 dead and over 70 injured.
CCPO Peshawar Tahir Khan said the security forces raided a flour-mill housing terrorists in the Chamkini area of the provincial capital. In an ensuing gun battle that continued for more than seven hours, two terrorists were killed and two others injured while another is suspected to have fled away the scene, he added.
CCPO said five of the security personnel taking part in the operation received minor injuries and were being provided medical aid.
Explosives, more than 200 detonators, SMGs, RPG-7 and other weapons were recovered from their possession, he said while adding, material used to make explosives was also recovered from the premises of the building.
The CCPO said the operation was carried out on an intelligence report about terrorists plotting to target public places in the province.
