LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has rejected the offer of the Government of Punjab, to provide desired security to PAT Chief, Dr Tahir ul Qadri – ARY News reports.
According to details, the Governor of Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar met the PAT Chief, Tahir ul Qadri at Minhaj ul Quran Secretariat on Tuesday and formally offered him to provide security on behalf of Punjab Government, however PAT refused to avail the security.
Sources told that the Punjab Government has also issued orders of releasing arrested PAT workers, upon the directives of Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif.
On the other hand, PAT general secretary, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that how can we obtain security from the ones, who killed our innocent workers including females.
He inquired the Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif to elaborate what action has been taken against the police officials who embraced and patted Gullu Butt.
Gandapur slammed the Punjab Government, saying how it is offering for security when it is conducting crackdowns against PAT workers and registering cases against them under anti-terrorism laws.
The Law Minister Punjab, Rana Mashood said in a statement that the Punjab Government held sympathetic consideration over the demands by PAT, which were presented during the meeting between the Governor Punjab, Chaudhry Sarwar and Tahir ul Qadri.
He stated that the PAT workers arrested under MPO, shall be released and the CCPO Lahore after consultation with PAT officials, will make security arrangements for Tahir ul Qadri.
