Sarfaraz says Champions Trophy win brought new life to cricket team

KARACHI: Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed has said that the Champions Trophy recent has brought new life to the cricket team, as people have even higher expectations now.

Speaking at a event at the Karachi Press Club, the skipper said that it would a challenge to be captain the Test team. He said that the team will certainly miss the absence the Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.

“We had stepped in the ground with the firm belief that we can win. The victory has certainly breathed new life in the team,” he said.

Sarfaraz said the team needs a combination of young and senior players in the team. “A team needs senior players in the squad and they must be included if they are performing well.”

He further said that he aims to bring consistency in the team. “We have to progress more. We have to win more series,” he said.

He said cricket is facing a huge loss due to not having any major series at home, and it is now time that international cricket returns to Pakistan. “The situation has improved in the last two years, and we must now give good performances.”

He said that the many young players got much needed exposure due to the Pakistan Super League. “Shadab Khan and Fakhar Zaman have played domestic cricket but PSL gave them an identity,” he said.

Later, the KPC President presented a Sindhi cap and Ajrak and a shield to the cricket captain.
