Malik Baloch under Murree agreement tendered his resignation to the Governor of Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai on Wednesday.
Nawab Zehri had filed his nomination for the top provincial post and was elected unopposed after no other candidate filed nomination papers.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after consultations with his allies had decided to elevate Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, the provincial president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), as the chief minister of Balochistan for the remaining tenure of the provincial government.
The PML-N, PkMAP and National Party (NP) had sign a power sharing deal-Murree accord on June 4, 2013.
As per the agreement, the NP received chief minister position for a two and a half year term and a share in the cabinet, while the PkMAP got the office of governor and ministerial portfolios.
