The train running between Pakistan and India left the platform number one of Lahore Railway Station after a hiatus of several days causing concerns over the stranded passengers in two neighboring South Asian countries.
Samjhota Express resumed its service carrying 122 Indian and 70 Pakistani passengers on board.
The train will stop at Wagah railway station near Lahore for completion of Customs and Immigration procedures.
According to the schedule Samjhota Express after crossing the gate on Pakistan-India border will reach Attari railway station in India at 2:00pm today.
Samjhota Express schedule was cancelled in the past two weeks on October 05, October 08 and October 12 by the Indian authorities due to the farmers protests against the government over paying inadequate compensation for the widespread loss to cotton crop due to the whitefly attack in the state.
Pakistan foreign office expressed concerns over the suspension of Samjhota Express operations that caused inconvenience to Pakistani and Indian passengers.
