Sadaf Kanwal not to keen on working in Bollywood

Pakistani artists these days are making it big in the Indian film industry and have starred in Bollywood flicks since the local cinema industry and business at home was quite stagnant. However, with Lollywood’s resurgence and success on the rise with several hit films such as Waar, Na Maloom Afraad and Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Pakistani artists have yet again turned to the local industry.

Karachi-based model and actress Sadaf Kanwal feels one should not work abroad opt for local projects so long as they were good ones.
“Why should we rely solely on Bollywood when good work is being carried out in our own country? I feel if we need to grow, we need to grow here before anywhere else,” she said according to a local report.

Sadaf was particularly critical of Meera and said: “What can I say about Meera?

She has wronged herself. I hope she finds the right direction in life.”
She also said that most Pakistani artists “have only been laughing stocks in Bollywood” save Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam and Mahira Khan.

Regarding the dearth of projects that she had been offered in the past, Sadaf said she had not been a fan of the projects that came her way nor of the directors that were associated with them.
“Pakistani films were not being offered to me earlier and the offers that came my way were not so interesting. I was neither a great fan of the directors of those films,” she said.

Sadaf will be seen in the upcoming romantic comedy movie Balu Mahi which will be directed by Haissam Hussain. Osman Khalid Butt and Ainy Jaffri will star alongside her in the lead roles.
