Former Australian skipper and probably the best cricket captain of recent times Ricky Ponting has named his All Time XI.
“On top of the order I have Matthew Hyden and Justin Langer – the two guys I have really enjoyed batting behind,” he said placing the two fellow players on opening position.
He chose South African Jacques Kallis, who is regarded as one of the best all-rounders the game has produced, for third place.
Putting Indian Little Master Sachin Tandulkar on second-down position as “He had a great record against Australia in both formats whether One Day International or Test.”
He picked up “unbelievable legend batsman” of West Indies Brian Lara for fifth position and Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara “one of the modern greats” for captaincy.

For the job with gloves on, he chose Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist. “I don’t need much more to say about him. I think that he has really revolutionized the way wicket-keeping is pursued.”
Ponting described Shane Warne as “the best spinner to certain extent” while ranking his bowling line of defence.
He positioned Pakistani left-arm paceman and ‘sultan of reverse-swing’ Wasim Akram at number 9.
“He is probably the most skewed fast bowler that I have played against and he had an ability to swing new ball both wise with speed. As a batsman you knew that you were not safe,” said the Aussie skipper.
Ponting paired Wasim Akram with dreadful West Indian bowler Curtly Ambrose. He picked “undoubtedly, one of the great fast bowlers of modern era” Glenn McGrath as his 11th player.
