Talking to journalists at Multan Press Club, Jalandhari said that the hurriedness showed by the government towards anti-terror law had created suspicions about the entire matter.
He warned of taking ‘right step’ if action was taken against religious seminaries.
“Terrorism is a major issue of Pakistan, but the religion should not be targeted in its wake”, said Jalandhari. “Political parties need further scrutiny of the 21st Amendment”.
Targeting madaris on the pretext of Peshawar incident is a condemnable act, he added.
Jalandhari said that a meeting of central executive council of Wafaqul Madaris and other religious scholars has been summoned in Islamabad on January 8 to discuss the constitutional amendment.
Responding to a question, he told that the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has assured that the new law will not be used against irrelevant persons or bodies including madaris.
He further said that the seminaries involved in terrorism should be identified, while the authorities should also take immediate notice of those setting hurdles for madaris.
Moreover, Jalandhari asked that an individual act should not be linked with religious seminaries.
