Providing relief to people in tribal districts top priority: CM Mahmood

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan here on Tuesday said that providing relief to the people in newly merged tribal districts was the top priority of the provincial government.

Talking to a delegation of tribal elders hailing from South Waziristan district, who called on him in Peshawar, CM Mahmood Khan said, “Development schemes in the tribal districts will be finalized in consultation with the locals.”

The chief minister also assured the delegation that survey for damages assessment would be completed soon and compensations would be given accordingly.

On the occasion, CM Mahmood Khan directed the concerned officials for taking pragmatic steps to materialize the establishment of ‘Education City’ in the district.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan here on April 17 had said that development of tribal districts and provision of basic facilities to tribal people were the top priorities of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government.

Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the development of newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PM Imran had said that the tribal people had rendered unmatched sacrifices during the war against terrorism and directed to release the compensation money to the tribal people immediately.

He had asked the elected members from newly merged districts to strengthen their bonding with the tribal people and had ordered to accelerate distribution of Sehat Insaf cards to masses.
