Rashid promises new trains from City area to Landhi, Karachi to Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has vowed to launch a new train service for poor that would run from Karachi’s city area to Landhi and another from Karachi to Peshawar. 

While exclusively talking to ARY News, Sheikh Rashid further told that the federal government has approved the recruitment of more than 2000 employees on 11 grade posts.

The Federal Minister shared the plans to relieve the poor citizens of Karachi by introducing a new train service between the city area and Landhi. He also told that the government will soon initiate a train service from Karachi to Peshawar.

Few days earlier, during a press conference, the Minister of Railways announced to operate three new trains from the next month, adding that a new train would be operated between Lahore and Faisalabad from October 1, while Mohenjodaro Express and Rohri Express trains would be operated from October 16.

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid said 10,000 new employees would be recruited in Pakistan Railways on urgent basis and a summary has been sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan for approval in this regard.

Rashid said Wi-Fi facility will be made available in trains soon.

The Minister has committed to increase the number of freight trains from 10 to 15 by Sept 30 and informed that the agreements in this regard have already been signed.

The losses the department faces as of now stand at Rs 38 billion, the Minister said.
