KARACHI: Sindh Rangers claimed to have arrested four target killers associated with the militant wing of a political party in a raid carried out late Thursday night, ARY News reported.
The personnel of the paramilitary troops carried out a raid on Martin Quarters at Jahangir Road following a tip-off provided by the arrested suspects, according to the Rangers.
They said the four suspects, affiliated with a political party, were involved in heinous criminal activities.
Meanwhile, police arrested a suspect involved in street crime in Lee Market area and recovered an illegal weapon from his possession.
A day before, Rangers spokesperson Major Qambar Raza rebutted the allegations by MQM-London that its activist Muhammad Yousuf alias Thelaywala was killed during detention before being subjected to torture.
Yousuf told the media that he was an active member of MQM-London and had taken shelter at a friend’s house in the Surjani area following a raid at his workplace.
“I was shocked to hear about my extra-judicial killing news during hiding,” he said, adding he left for Mirpurkhas then to avoid trouble for other relatives and friends.
“Later I decided to surrender before the Rangers,” he added.
He said the leadership of his party wanted to get him killed to malign the Sindh Rangers, and added that the party is hatching conspiracies to defame the law-enforcement agencies of the country.
