Pursuing Education is Islamic Legacy, said Aga Khan

The Aga Khan University Karachi held its 26th Convocation Ceremony at the University Campus, on Thursday, December 19, ARY News reported.

The Honorable Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad was the ceremony’s Chief Guest. Chief Minister of Sindh along with other officials also attended the convocation ceremony.  This year marks 30 years since the Aga Khan University was granted its charter as Pakistan’s first private international university.

The ceremony commenced at 10.30 am with a formal declaration by His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan- the chancellor AKU. President of AKU Mr. Feroz Ali welcomed the Chancellor AKU his Highness Aga Khan, the Chief guest and other distinguished attendees.

While addressing the convocation ceremony His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan congratulated the graduands and wished them enormous success. He paid special tribute to the distinguished faculty for their uncompromising commitment to quality and declared them a bedrock on which the university is built.

His Highness also thanked the donors who provided resources to AKU. He said that these resources include not only material gifts, but also the great gifts of time and knowledge that so many contributed to progress

.  Prince Aga Khan also commanded the work of Trustees and said “They have been leaders of exceptional competence and dedication, bringing to us the fruit of their distinctive personal experiences, as well their wise global perspectives. Each of our trustees over the past thirty years has left a lasting imprint on the University.”

“On a day like this, we can also take renewed strength from our past, and from a great legacy of Islamic accomplishment in pursuing educational excellence” said Aga Khan.

Chief guest Dr. Ishratul ebad paid tribute to H.H Aga Khan for his visionary leadership, commitment to humanity and contribution to education and human compassion. He said “I honor Aga Khan for his services in Ideals of human excellence and compassion through empowering underprivileged communities.” He also urged His Highness to support Pakistan.

Degrees and diplomas were conferred to 367 graduates of Educational Development, Medical College and School of Nursing and Midwifery Students.
