Punjab govt focuses on quality education: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Jawan Bakhat Hashim on Wednesday said that education was the most focused area of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, the minister said that eradicating poverty was impossible without improving the literacy rate in the country.

Chairing the Annual Development Program (ADP) meeting of the school education department, the minister said that the government would continue and complete the previous government education projects, besides initiating new projects in accordance of the PTI government policy, reads the statement.

The Minister for School Education Murad Rass, Chairman Planning and Development Department Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Secretary Finance Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh, Secretary School Education Zafar Iqbal and other officials attended the meeting.

Jawan Bakhat Hashim instructed to complete the medium-term budgetary framework (MTBF) taking the all concern stakeholders on board for better planning and utilisation of the resources.

The minister instructed the school education department to utilise technical expertise of the finance, planning and development departments, along with international development partners of the Punjab government.

The Minister for School Education Murad Rass said that improving the conditions of dilapidated school buildings was a priority of the department so to end the fear of the parents, besides ensuring the missing facilities in the existing schools.
