LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) has proposed to form ‘reconciliation council’ for restoration of peace in the country, ARY News reported Sunday.
General Secretary PUC Sahibzada Zahid Mehmood Qasmi said all political and religious forces must now unite against terrorism.
While proposing the formation of reconciliation council, Qasmi said government must convert the code of conduct agreed upon in Islamabad’s all parties’ conference into legislation. “Killings in the name of religion are never justified,” he added.
He reiterated that peace could only be restored through reconciliation. The government, he said, should continue dialogue with forces that are willing to continue peace talks.
The council termed intervention of Nato forces in Afghanistan as root-cause of all evils in the region.
