ISLAMABAD: Reacting to the Islamabad High Court decision in the Avenfield properties case, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan says one must understand that the court suspended jail sentence of Sharifs, not cancelled it.
Speaking to ARY News, Khan said Nawaz Sharif and his jailed family members remain convicts and plunderers of national wealth. “They are guilty, and their conviction charges are still intact,” asserted the PTI leader.
He added that the court decision was mere suspension of the imprisonment they were facing, and it’s not cancellation of the sentence given to the Sharifs.
“The ultimate destination of Sharifs is Adiala Jail as more verdicts in different cases are yet to come,” said the PTI leader.

To a question, he said the PTI government couldn’t interfere in proceedings in the case by National Accountability Bureau or any other institution.
He insisted that the Sharifs failed to proved themselves in the court, “and that was reason they were imprisoned by the court”.
As an interim relief, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today suspended the conviction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield properties case.
A division bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb suspended their sentence through a short verdict.
The bench ordered release of the incarcerated members of the Sharif family against a surety of Rs 500,000 each.
This verdict came on petitions filed by Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and her spouse seeking suspension of the Avenfield verdict until a final decision on their appeals against the sentence.
Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Safdar, were convicted by an accountability court in the Avenfield reference on July 6. Nawaz Sharif was sentenced ten years in prison, while Maryam was awarded seven years in jail.
