MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will hold today a public meeting at Quaid-i-Azam ground to garner support in the build-up to general elections scheduled after May next year.

This is the third public rally of PTI in less than a week as the party has stepped up mass contact campaign in a bid to mould public opinion in its favor in the aftermath of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification in July this year.

PTI chairman Imran Khan and other senior party leaders will address the gathering today at Quaid-i-Azam ground where almost all arrangements have been completed. The venue has been decorated with party flags and banners featuring the photos of Khan and other party leaders.

A day earlier, the PTI chief addressed a mammoth crowd in home constituency of Mianwali city where he harshly criticized political opponents, especially arch-rival Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N government.

Coming down hard on Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, Khan said that Sharif has failed in bringing reforms in the provincial police department. He said the provincial chief minister has only changed the police uniforms with no other major changes.

PTI chief Imran Khan on Friday held a public gathering in Upper Dir city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a brief video message, Khan had urged the public to take part in the gathering. “Insha’Allah on Saturday (Oct 28), I will be coming to my city [Mianwali] to hold a ‘mega’ public meeting,” the PTI chairman said.

“Your presence in [the] gathering is highly significant to make it historic one in Mianwali after three years following the Panama scandal,” Khan added.

It merits mention here that Imran was elected from this constituency in 2002 and 2013.
