PTI drops demand of biometric system in KP

The Chief Minister of KP, Pervez Khattak on Monday asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to devise an effective system for the conduct of transparent elections in the province.

After his meeting with ECP officials, the chief minister told that his government does not want any further delay in the Local Body (LB) elections and it is ready to cooperate fully with the ECP in this regard.

He told that the details of delimitations were provided to the commission one-and-a-half year, while there are no issues pertaining to delimitations in KP, it is there in Sindh and Balochistan.

The CM said that National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) caused a delay in the introduction of biometric system in the province.

“LB elections in KP will be held in May or June this year, while its schedule will be issued in the month of April”, said Pervez Khattak.

Moreover, he vowed for the conduct of exemplary elections in the province.
