LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Sunday said securing victory in the NA-120 by-poll in Lahore was crucial and would serve as a test case for Pakistanis, ARY News reported.
“People are being tricked through tall claims and fake promises in election campaign by the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in the constituency. Either might will rule in NA-120 or there would be rule of law,” he said seeking help from Punjab police to keep the PML-N workers from meddling with PTI activists running election campaign.
He said Inspector General of Punjab police held responsibility to keep mischievous elements and he should not serve the interests of Sharif family as he was not their clerk, he added.
The PTI chief said he would move court against the concerned officials if police failed to establish law and order situation in the constituency. He said his workers had received threats from the opposition party men.

Soliciting support for PTI’s candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid against PML-N’s Kulsoom Nawaz in NA-120 by-election, Imran also held Union Council wise meetings and reviewed the highly charged NA-120 campaign.
He also lashed out at the ruling party for terming the Supreme Court verdict in Panama Leaks case unfair. Nawaz believed court verdict against him was a conspiracy, he said.
“After a protracted investigation they were declared guilty in the Panama case. They were given a fair amount of time to prove themselves innocent. Still they are asking why am I ousted?,” he said.
Imran said big amount of money was laundered abroad. Billions of rupee assets were bought out of the country, he lamented and added that our children would have bright future after we would fight corrupt people.
Yasmin Rashid’s competition is not against Kulsoom but against the state as state resources were being used by the government, he said.
He also said he sought permission from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) permission to run campaign for NA-120 but his request was turned down while he held no public office.
The PTI chief also announced to hold a rally outside NA-120 constituency on September 8.
