President Alvi gets invite for Turkey visit

ISLAMABAD: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has extended invitation to President Dr Arif Alvi to visit Turkey at his earliest convenience.

He called on the president at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Friday.

The Turkish foreign minister is on an official visit to Islamabad to convey the greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the new leadership of Pakistan.

He congratulated Arif Alvi on his assumption of office and conveyed the good wishes of the leadership and the people of Turkey for the newly elected government of Pakistan.

Mevlut Cavusoglu emphasized the significance of the strategic partnership between the two countries and expressed the hope to further enhance it.

He conveyed the desire of his leadership to work closely with the new government.

The president also conveyed his congratulations to Tayyip Erdogan over his victory in recent elections.

He said that relations between the two countries were unique and based on shared values, history, commonality of interests and shared views on wide range of issues.

Arif Alvi emphasised the importance of further enhancing the close ties, especially in the field of trade and commerce for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Inviting his Turkish counterpart to visit Pakistan, he said “we hope to host Recep Tayyip Erdogan soon in Pakistan.”

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Turkish counterpart vowed to further improve strategic, trade and cultural ties between the two countries.

Qureshi said Pakistan had longstanding friendly ties with Turkey, which always extended a helping hand to Pakistan in its testing time.

He said, he and the Turkish foreign minister discussed different issues of mutual interest during delegation-level talks, including the ones related to enhancing mutual trade, his upcoming visit to Kabul, ties with Iran and the Kashmir dispute.
