ISLAMABAD: With an aim to depoliticize the bureaucrats of Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized on the civil servants to bring an upward trajectory in the performance of all departments while refraining from the political influence.
Addressing top bureaucrats, Premier emphasized the need to bring changes into the governance structure of the institutions, which would pave the way for improvements in all aspects of governance.
The system of governance is required to be revamped and an ameliorated governance will result in investments from overseas Pakistanis who have lots of money to cushion the tumbling economy, PM Khan stated while urging the officers to get rid of colonial mindset in their professional lives.
Referring to swelling foreign loans on Pakistan, the Prime Minister mentioned “we are in a classic debt trap scenario, where we are liable to pay six billion daily as interest money with our consistently surging foreign debt.”
Institutions were destroyed by previous governments in order to facilitate their corruption, therefore, “Accountability is our cornerstone; system can not run without it,” he remarked.
Citing the example of Singapore’s policies for civil servants, the PM assured better salary structures for the bureaucrats as soon as the country comes out of its current crisis.
Moreover, the premier asserted that no ill-intended pressure will be exerted on any bureaucrat, “even if someone happens to make a mistake then I would stand by him to fix it with that person.” All of the government’s policies are in vain, if the executive class does not implement it, he added.
“If a nation and a government become one, then no challenge is big enough,” he said. Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed on the coherence of the pillars of a state and a collective ‘need of change’ to fix country’s shortcomings.
