I came out a winner: Pooja Hegde discusses ‘Cirkus’ failure

Indian actor Pooja Hegde finally addressed the Box Office failure of her last release, Rohit Shetty’s period-comedy ‘Cirkus’ with Ranveer Singh.

The star-studded spinoff of ‘Golmaal’ franchise, based on William Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’, ‘Cirkus’ was released theatrically in December 2022. The film was panned by critics and even became a huge commercial failure.

Speaking about the same at a recent interview with a digital channel, Hegde confessed to being a ‘little upset’ about the failure, however, was satisfied with the reviews she got for her performance.

“Did it upset me? Yes, a little bit, because it is my baby at the end of the day. But the way I look at it, I only learnt from it,” the actor shared with the host.

She explained, “I got to work with Rohit Shetty and comedy legends like Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra. So I think overall, it was a great thing, and people really appreciated me in the film. And I love Rohit sir as a person. He is a great person to deal with and shoot with.”

“So overall, I think I came out a winner.”

It is pertinent to mention here that ‘Cirkus’ wasn’t the only release of Hegde last year that tanked at the Box Office. The mega-budgeted ‘Radhe Shyam’ with Prabhas was also an underperformer at the ticket windows.
